Emergency assistance for Rakhine State,Myanmar

IMG-20160503-WA0003A fire broke out yesterday, Tuesday in a camp for internally displaced Muslims in Rakhine State in Myanmar and destroyed shelters for about 2,400 people and killed about 14 of them who are of the minority Rohingya Muslims, who have been displaced by fighting between Buddhists and Muslims in 2012.
The fire started in Pau de camp Fa 2 near the state capital Sittwe in the morning. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs declared that authorities are investigating the cause, but initial reports say it was a cooking accident.
Based on the information currently available 14 people at least were killed and many others injured .
The fire wiped out about more than 55 Shelters “long houses” and damaged up to 9 others, affecting 440 families, or more than 2,400 people.
Therefore, the need now is to react to an emergency assistance to rebuild the destroyed shelters and provide emergency food assistance, especially with the approach of the month of Ramadan.
OC team on the ground is preparing a detailed report about the accident and a need assessment to react rapidly.
