Your organisation works in Nepal, focusing on development – you don’t want to distract them with responding to the emergency (which anyways requires some different skills and experience)? Your organisation focuses on disaster response besides development, but Nepal is out of your zone of experience? Or you don’t want to (yet) invest in permanent capacity in a new location? Perhaps you even specialise in disaster management, but with 4 L3 emergencies simultaneously (Iraq, Syria, S-Sudan and CAR) your organisation may be experiencing temporary capacity gaps and cannot stretch to respond to the Nepal earthquake?
If any of the above applies to your organisation: you’ve come to the right place. We do not want to do what NGOs can do themselves. We focus on filling humanitarian gaps. OC team members have years of disaster response experience, including major earthquakes, such as Bam (Iran) and Haiti. We are currently preparing to send a team member to support response.
